I strongly believe that his book series is great. I really enjoyed attention to detail with the spells and the way the main character unlocked them. The world is big and it feels big when reading it. THe descriptions of town are great leaving out just enough details to use your own imagination to create your Laerngard or your own cave or dungeon. Probably the best part for me was the idea of a person being in a video game and the ability to combine classes and skill together to meet the given situation.Now onto the bad part of the book...the characters and their interations felt very forced. Same with they jokes and personalities. A lot of time I didnt understand why a character made a decision that they made. For me the best character was probably Shade because he was consistent and might I argue that probably best written. The main character Clay in my opinion could have had better character development, having said that I understand where the author was coming from.All in all I do recommend this series if you play a lot of video RPG game or need something quick to read (like myself). The testament to this series is I have already picked up another of authors book Tower Climber and can honestly say that this series steps it up a notch in character to the AKO.
