I just finished the book and it's fantastic!!! Chris shares the highs, the lows, the challenges, the rewards, and the sometimes gut-wrenching decisions they had to make in the process of considering, planning and then actually surviving an unguided, unassisted and unsupported trek to the South Pole. It's inspiring and motivating even for those with no interest in extreme adventures (me) because, beyond the physical, Chris shares the mental and emotional side of things in a very intimate and personal way. You really feel the joy, the terror, the smiles through tears, and ultimately, the enlightenment. So while it's about their extreme adventure, it's also about family, friends and living your passion (whatever that passion may be). It makes you grateful...for life, for love and for a hot shower and a warm bed to sleep in...and for the sun going down at night!
